Terry Gordy
I was just wondering what are your thoughts on him as a wrestler?
I was led to believe that he had the reputation of a good wrestler, but when I watched an ECW tape with him on (Gordy/Williams vs. Eliminators - Yes, when Saturn dropped THAT elbow!) he was shockingly poor. I read somewhere in Foley's book that something had happened to Gordy which meant he was a shadow of his former self. Did I just catch Gordy on an off-day, or was he usally this bad?

To put my 14 years of watching wrestling, what I know is that Terry Gordy was quite a solid wrestler when he was younger and before the accident which changed Terry's life.
After the accident, Terry would look lost in the ring and had to rely on his opponent and the ref to help him out. Cactus Jack, you did indeed catch Terry on his normal day but understand this, the accident changed his life. He died about 2 years ago in his home. Sadly I can't remember what the accident was though. Hope I've helped you Cactus! |

Terry was terrible by the time you saw him Craig.
He lived life in the fast lane:drank and took loads of drugs, he actually died twice from drugs but was brought back to life, he was enver the same after 1992, check out anything pre 1992 and Gordy was a fanstastic wrestler

Thanks for your input
I guess I'll need to see tapes of him in Japan from me to see him in his prime?

I had no idea the drugs was the reason Terry was a changed man - I thought it was a accident. Thank you SiMania. |

Gordy was pretty good in his day - hey, he was 1/3 of the Fabulous Freebirds so of course he was good! His matches in AJPW alongside Steve Williams are also worth watching.
It's a real shame what happened to him but his legacy shall live on.

Terry lived in the super fast lane, even after him "dying" you might have thought he could have realised, how he was destroying himself, but no he carried on with the drink and drugs even more, kinda seeing himself as indestructible. After say 1994 at most, his career was done, he was just a sloth after that. Such a shame.
