Te following statement was released earlier today.

Major League Wrestling, Inc. ("MLW") and the Sunshine Network have reached an agreement for the weekly television series MLW Underground(SM) which will begin airing in the network’s Monday night time period (11:00PM-12:00AM, ET/PT) with replays through out the week starting April 7th, it was announced today by Court Bauer, owner of MLW.

The Sunshine Network currently reaches several million homes throughout the state of Florida and nationwide via satellite including on DirecTV and the Dish Network.

Bauer adds: "In the last two years there has been a critical void left by the demise of ECW and acquisition of WCW. However, beginning Monday, April 7th, this will change as MLW brings fans the most violent, hard-hitting action mixed with cutting edge storylines creating a counter culture attitude that only MLW can deliver to its rabid fans."

MLW Underground(SM) also marks the return to the broadcast booth by the noted former ECW commentator Joey Styles. "Since ECW went bankrupt in early 2001, there has not been a hard-hitting and edgy professional wrestling product on television. For whatever reason, even approaching WrestleMania, fans are tuning out WWE in droves. MLW hopes to be the alternative those dissatisfied and disenfranchised fans are looking for. Short on soap-opera storylines and long on real in-ring action, Major League Wrestling will demonstrate the difference between "professional wrestling" and "sports entertainment" I am very excited about calling the action for MLW," states Styles.

Over the course of its existence, Major League Wrestling has developed an intense following with an innovative combination of wrestling and mixed martial arts styles called "Hybrid Wrestling" including: hardcore wrestling, traditional wrestling, Japanese "Puroresu" Strong Style, Lucha Libre, Shoot Wrestling, and more. MLW is the most graphic, destructive and real version of professional wrestling you will ever view.

Starting April 7th, witness the evolution of MLW's brand of Hybrid Wrestling on a weekly basis with MLW Underground(SM).

MLW also can be seen on Japan's Gaora sports cable network with its frequent 2-hour specials.

Congratulations to them I say. Here's hoping that the show helps to claw back some of the fans who have seemingly stopped watching wrestling since WCW folded.

Thats brilliant news for MLW, so soon after their debut show, it feels as if the first show was yesterday!!

FINALLY, the fans in USA can get to watch The King Of Old School Steve Corino!!!!!!!!!
All that is left is to have a TV deal with Bravo so I can get to watch Steve Corino wrestle!

MLW is actually quite good, with a mixture of wrestling, REAL wrestling as opposed to the product Vince and WWE offers at the moment.

Its a hybrid of hardcore, hard hitting, wrestling and here one for Singhy - puro all rolled in one.

I think thats what NWA TNA have done to a certain extent, although this new promotion will do itself no harm, good luck indeed.

vince knows that that hardcore wrestling style sells bt he wont do anything about it because he is too lazy, and i more than happy with the way things are currently going, so it is good ina way that this new company are doing what they are doing as they offer what looks like a good alternative.

I believe MLW debuted last summer at the Viking Hall in Philadelphia then hosted a show in New York City then Fort Lauderdale.

Currently MLW has no events scheduled which is a bad thing especially after securing such a high profile TV deal.

Since ECW went down there are have been pretenders to throne(sp) like CZW who have raise in stature and are one of the finest Indy Feds, but this new promotion has a real chance at emulating ECW given time that is....

I have been saying for a very long time that vince should utilise the EWC Name and Brand, by creating a new verion of it...a late night version, with the guys like Tommy Dreamer, the Dudleys, taz and RVD etc who are used to and known more for that hardcore element, it would give the fans an alternative to see the more extreme side of professional wrestling, at the same time vince would be losing out on nothing as the competition would be himself.

And if Vince do bring back the ECW brand and have a late night program for ECW, do you think Vince will promote at the Viking Hall?
