- Quick note: Kaval (Low Ki) worked a dark match against Paul Burchill. Both looked good I thought.

- Chris Jericho opened Smackdown putting over how he had won a TLC match before but DX hadn’t even been in one. This led to him calling out Teddy Long. Long made Jericho vs. Undertaker for later in the show. I guess that match just isn’t happening at WrestleMania.

- The Hart Dynasty beat Cryme Tyme.

- CM Punk promo. He introduced Luke Gallos, better known as Festus. I’d heard talk of this storyline a while ago but thought they must have dropped it. Anyway, Punk said he helped Gallos to get over his years of drug abuse. Punk had a copy of the new Jeff Hardy DVD and noted that the last chapter of the DVD featured Jeff’s final match in WWE. Matt Hardy interrupted to defend Jeff, which led to…

- Matt Hardy beat CM Punk via DQ when Gallos interfered.

- Batista beat Kane via countout in a No. 1 contender’s match. Pretty good match.

- John Morrison beat Eric Escobar to retain the Intercontinental Title. Afterwards, Vickie Guerrero broke up with Escobar. I wondered if he’s heading back to development as his short run has done him no favours.

- Undertaker beat Chris Jericho via DQ when Batista, who was on commentary, hit the ring and beat up Undertaker. CM Punk hit the ring and the three of them beat up Taker. Kane made the save to close the show.

He spent almost FIVE YEARS in development, so I can't see what good it's going to do him now.

I don't see why the hell he needs to be sent back to developmental. He's quite a compitent wrestler and yeah so what if he hasn't started a revolution in the one month he's been on WWE TV

You'll be happy to know that 61 percent of the WWE Universe voters think the WWE Draft is better than the NFL, NBA, another major sports drafts. In related news, 61 percent of the WWE Universe voters are morons.

He hasn't shown anything since being called up, not a thing. After spending so long in the developments, to have nothing of note to make you stand out, nothing in the way of verbal skills, is amazing.

Such a shame they are just throwing away Taker/Jericho's first singles match on TV as a meaningless match to build a match between Taker/Batista who have faced each other about a billion times (not to say they aren't top matches, but it's been done before countless times).

They did that two weeks ago.

I know. I tried to blank it out. No seriously I completely forgot, which is a shame.

But the point still stands though. Taker/Jericho had never happened before. Now twice in 3 weeks and neither of them were particularly important or cared about. Such a waste.

Okay the Kane/Batista match didn't suck. Actually it was great.

Kane/Batista was a miracle of Smackdown proportions. Totally fine TV match, the last minute or so was quite good until the finish. I cannot think of a single time where making a guy No. 1 Contender for a world title by a countout/DQ/bullsh*t finish is a good idea. Certainly not in the case of the newly monster-heeled Batista against...Kane. Bad idea that, but the match was certainly fine.

Come to think, didnt they have a match a few months ago and everyone thought it would be the end of Smackdown as we knew it, and that turned out OK too? I love this show.

Show was good, nothing spectacular but a really solid show. Harts/Cryme Tyme was a good little match, they all deserve more than a billion 5-minute rematches with each other every week. Punk/Matt was OK, more the background for the angle. Morrison dragged Eric to something decent. Batista/Kane was good. Jericho/Taker was a really good match, just like their first one really.

Not surprised that Vickie ditched Eric, they clearly saw nothing in him. I figured thats where they'd go when she got her new job, but I didnt think so soon. You'd think considering her angle was "I keep giving you chances and you always suck, you jobber", they'd have dragged it out a little, demonstrate her giving him matches and him losing, because we didnt really see that apart from today. Seemed weird to go from "I love you baby" to "you're always f*cking up!" in 5 minutes. But whatever. He was pretty meh. And anyway Vickie was totally awesome.

I swear like 4 months ago I read somewhere on some board (here? F4W? who knows) an idea for Punk to bring out Festus and claim he was wacky from pills, and he's now cured and straight edge, and he becomes Punk's bodyguard. Vince Reads the Boards #563. I do love the idea though. Festus, though, looks like one of the Truth Commission. (It is them I'm thinking of, isnt it? Its some team from Survivor Series '97) Weird choice of outfit, but whatever. I LOVE his new finish, the reverse full nelson bomb, I guess it is. Totally approve of this so far. Oh and I loved the way they plugged the Jeff DVD here too.
