In Love And War
15th February 2008

On last week’s edition of "The Cutting Edge," the Rated-R Superstar revealed he plans to ask SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero an important, life-changing question for Valentine's Day. Later in the night, Diva Eve hinted that he might pop the question to the GM. On this week's SmackDown, will the Ultimate Opportunist ask the GM to join him in holy mat(rimony)?

Rey Mysterio made it clear how he felt about their relationship when he West Coast Popped Edge, leaving him dazed and confused outside the ring. On this week's SmackDown, what will the Master of the 619 have to say about the future of the romantic duo? Although Edge's specific question remains to be revealed, there's no uncertainty when it comes to what the ultimate underdog sees in his future – the World Title he once held.

And, if Edge does ask the "big question," how will Vickie respond? How might her answer affect the entire "Guerrero family"?

With No Way Out coming right on the heels of this week's SmackDown, all the heavy hitters will be sizing each other up for the massive pay-per-view event. Undertaker, Batista, Finlay, The Great Khali, United States Champion MVP and Big Daddy V will be psyching themselves up for their No Way Out Elimination Chamber Match. The winner will reap the grand reward – an opportunity for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXIV.

With Valentine's Day love in the air, will Michelle McCool finally distance herself from the raging Chuck Palumbo and spend more time with Jamie Noble? After the vicious beating Palumbo delivered to Noble last week, he certainly could use some lovin'.

With anticipation building for No Way Out, the Superstars are sure to step up their intensity level a few notches on this week's SmackDown. What will transpire before they compete in the biggest Elimination Chamber Match in history? Will cupid’s arrow be thrown far off-course with the intensity of Friday Night Smackdown?

Find out the answers to all these questions and more on Friday Night SmackDown at 10pm on Sky Sports 3!

TAPING FOR FEB. 15 SMACKDOWN TV

Of note, Michael Cole has a thesaurus on the announce desk. American Heritage, I believe.

(1) Batista beat MVP clean in 15:00. Nice, solid match. Good psychology here. Batista with the Batista Bomb for the win after MVP effectively worked over his left arm. (***1/2)

Edge blew off Hawkins and Ryder backstage. He's got bigger things to worry about.

(2) Yang & Moore & Jesse & Festus beat Hawkins & Ryder & Deuce & Domino (w/Cherry) in 3:00. Yang with a moonsault on one of the Greasers for the win. Yang was very popular with the audience. Afterward, the heels tried to beat up the rednecks, but Jesse rang the bell and Festus snapped to attention to beat up the opposition and clear the ring.

Vickie got a makeover backstage.

They showed a clip from last night's taping, which will air on Friday, of Palumbo beating the crap out of Noble part 5.

(3) Victoria beat McCool in 3:00. Before the match, Palumbo came out for a closer look at the action. He proceeded to rev his engine the entire time very annoyingly. I had to double-check this wasn't Hog Wild and Leno wasn't in the ring. Michelle was distracted by Palumbo being a heel, setting up Victoria for the Widow's Peak for the win. Afterward, Palumbo cut a promo. Didn't really say anything we haven't heard in the storyline already. Of note, Cole had a good laugh with the photographers ringside. Must have been something funny in the thesaurus.

(4) Undertaker beat Big Daddy V (w/Matt Striker) in 7:00. Taker with yeoman's work trying to work a good match in slow-mo. Taker won with a chokeslam before choking out Striker post-match. Striker bled from the mouth for added effect. He then did a stretcher job. Greatest line ever from a fan screaming for everyone to show respect and take a knee. You had to be there.

They showed Edge pacing in his locker room. He's a Nervous Ned.

(5) Kane & Punk beat Shelton & Chavo in 5:00. Punk with the G2S on Chavo for the win when Shelton walked out. Chavo with another TV defeat.

(6) Finlay (w/Hornswoggle) beat Khali (w/Singh) in 5:00. One conclusion to draw from two nights of TV is that Hornswoggle, or at least his entrance music, is very, very, very popular with the kids. And WWE is going to make a ton of money at the merch. tables selling his green derby hat. $10 a pop with about $3 of variable costs on a paper hat with some green dye means a ton of profit. The match followed the usual formula match of Horny in peril, then Finlay with shillelagh shots behind the ref's back for the win.

After a crew took some time setting up the flower shop in the ring, they went to Vickie's Valentines Day segment. Edge came to the ring first to the tune of live violins. He was so very nervous about his special question. He then brought on Vickie to the top heel reaction of the night. Edge proceeded to sing horribly (on purpose). He even got some of the audience to mockingly sway back and forth. It was great. He then popped the question and Vickie said yes to being his wife. He gave her a ring and they kissed, which grossed out the kids. Same reaction as seeing Vince's ass on Monday night. Rey interrupted to a huge pop after Edge built up all the heat. Rey said this is disgusting. Edge wanted an apology, so Rey entered the ring and Edge attacked him. Rey came back with the 619, and went for a seated sentaun, but Edge moved and Vickie ate the sentaun from her wheelchair. Rey just shrugged his shoulders with a "did I do that?" look and left the ring to another strong reaction. They did a stretcher job for Vickie to close the show.

Nothing to argue with the spoilers about, except that Undie beat BDV with his swinging DDT.

Real good episode, again. MVP v Batista was really good, all the matches were good, really.

Chucky revving his bike the whole way through Michelle's match, and then stepping on her hair and yelling in her face IS heelness. Sadly he spoke again, but it was way better than last time so it was all good. Have I mentioned that I love this angle?

Good use of the swerve-to-not-swerve with the proposal. Hopefully their wedding is as good as the last one we saw. I am over the moon at Rey's involvement this week, he had great lines and facial expressions, and actually didnt look like a chump. Very good work, even if the constant 619-ing and hitting Vickie is repetitive.

Oh, and Edge singing Brian Adams' "Heaven" badly was brilliant.

Fine show, Batista vs. MVP was a really good TV match, 'Taker vs. V should have been awful but it wasn't, but it still wasn't any good. Chuck is a pr*ck and I love it. The whole Edge/Vickie stuff is so...weird! I mean the whole way it could go is to have someone surprise them at the Wedding or whatever and then feud with Edge, the only person that should be is Eddie, and he's dead. I dunno, I just hope it ends soon.

Much better show this week. Batista and MVP great match. Someone should take away the keys to Palumbo's motorcycle he's really annoying with it. lol when Edge sang Heaven but the best part was when Mysterio landed on Vickie collasping her wheelchair. It was the look on Edge's face I had tears running down my cheek.

Good show this week

Matches were all quite good, even the Taker vs BDV match which I thought may stick up the place was watchable, Batista vs MVP was a really, really good match which i'm glad was given plenty of time

The Edge asking Vickie to Marry him stuff didn't interest me too much but it advanced the whole storyline which is what it was meant to do after all, not really into this whole story and won’t be sad to see it end but its tolerable so long as its headed to some sort of good payoff

Only thing I can say is I would have put Batista vs MVP on as the main event match tho before the Vickie/Edge/Mysterio stuff rather then Finlay vs Khali as after Batista vs MVP the other matches never lived up to what it had produced and thought it would make a better send off match then what we got as the final match of the show
