5th February 2008

CM Punk's fire has been relit. After defeating Elijah Burke, Punk got a bit of revenge, crashing Chavo Guerrero's Championship Fiesta on ECW. After smacking Chavo over the head with a mariachi guitar, the Straightedge Superstar grabbed Chavo's newly-won ECW Championship and boldly stood over him. Punk has ECW gold set in his eyes again, but what will it take for him to reclaim it?

Colin Delaney returned to the ECW ring for a sixth time, this time being defeated in a Handicap Match by WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison. After his latest beatdown, ECW Original Tommy Dreamer came to help Delaney out of the ring. Has the youngster finally caught a break – and a found an ally – in Dreamer?

Also last week, Shelton Benjamin took a giant Kane boot to the face, then walked away from the ring, with Kane winning by count-out. Has ECW's Gold Standard finally found his match in the Land of the Extreme? Is Kane finally someone who can "stop him now"?

Find out the answers to all of these questions and more on the next ECW this Thursday Night on Sky Sports 3 at 11.30pm!

I thought this was a great show. Punk vs. Chavo is the Gulf of Mexico match was a fine scrap, both men beat the crap out of each other and it came off well. Dreamer vs. Morrison was better than it had any right to be, the same for the Women's match. For a second I thought Bobby Eaton was in the WWE, sadly it was KC James. Kofi Kingston still rules!

Yeah decent show i thought. Punk/Chavo, if booked correctly, could be one of the great feuds. Kofi looked good despite once again not fighting someone of any note.

I forgot to add, the Stevie Richards interview was awesome. He'll show us, we'll see!

"The Miz and John Morrison certainly not above cracking anybody from behind."

I did mention it in the comments thread when Styles did the web article on Stevie, but (with obvious bias) I'm really interested to see where they are going with him. Even if he is just to return to his usual WWE role, it's a nice sign of respect for the man to have his interview televised with Styles. I can't wait to see his in ring return next week, and hopefully it leads to a nice position for him with people like Punk returning the favour for his work last year.

It's most likely we'll see them going back with what they seemed to be going with before his op, with Stevie presenting himself to Vinnie Mac and co as someone deserving a chance and it just leading to pointing and giggling. Build it as Stevie proving the doubters wrong, maybe getting the tag titles or even the US title when MVP moves on to bigger things; should be good I think.
