The Rise and Fall of the ECW

I know that this just came out, but need some input as soon as possible. My son is asking for this for Christmas. It is not rated and I need to know some details about it from someone who has watched it. Just how bloody is this? Is there anything else inappropriate about it? If someone could help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

I haven't seen it yet, but have read about some of the things on it. If it shows the complete matches of some of the competitors in WWE just now there could be a good bit of blood spilled, (Taz(z) v Tajiri, Dudleys, etc).

One angle I do know is on the DVD is the fued, Raven vs Sandman, where the Sandman gets "crucified" by Raven's nest. This is quite graphic if memory serves. Also a Dog-Collar match between Stevie Richards/Raven v The Pitbulls, I think, is pretty bloody too. It will be an 18rated release in the UK. How much they show, I don't know, but ECW was a bloody place at times.

The Rise and Fall of the ECW

Thanks Draven. You were a big help. I appreciate it. BTW...does anyone know why this was moved? I was hoping to get some other feedback, but it looks like it was pushed aside for some reason.

If you posted it in another forum and it was moved it, it's probably because it belongs here. Otherwise, no idea.

As for the DVD, expect plenty of blood and clips of ultraviolence (barbed wire, powerbombs through fire, etc). ECW was an innovative brand of wrestling, but it also had some extreme matches that pushed the envelope of US wrestling a lot. Depending on how old your son is, I'd at least watch the DVD first and take it back if you don't think it's appropriate for him. Hey, you might even enjoy it yourself

I have just finished watching disk 1 today, which is the main show, and I think it is fantastic. I've never been a huge fan of ECW, and never watched any of it when the company was around, but now I wish I had. The DVD goes into great detail on all the main stars and the company, and its a must for any wrestling fan, whether you have enjoyed ECW in the past or not.

I agree. It is a superb DVD. I never really got to see much ECW before, but the documentary part does a superb job of filling you in. At nearly 3 hours its great. And thats without the seven bonus matches on disk 2! I would advise any wrestling fan to buy this.

The first disc indeed is good. But the 2nd one could've been so much better. Paul Heyman stated that the match selection for the 2nd disc sucked. He had nothing to do with the selection of which matches were to be added to the 2 disc set. Overall it was a good thing to have if you're an old ECW fan.

I'm just glad that I have old ECW DVD's at home to look at.
