RAW Discussion Thread- May 12, 2008 from Detroit, MI (#781)

Credit: WWE.com
Quote:
Judgment Day will be only six days away when RAW returns from north of the border this Monday night, and the RAW Superstars will have one last chance to gain momentum inside Detroit’s Joe Louis Arena.

One individual making his way to the Motor City for RAW is John Cena. Following last week's announcement that the Chain Gang Soldier will clash with JBL at Judgment Day, Cena may be on hand to mix some pre-match words (or fists) with the self-proclaimed "wrestling god."

Detroit may be Hockeytown, USA, but this Monday, it could become Blackoutville. For two consecutive weeks, General Manager William Regal has pulled the plug; first, he took RAW off the air two weeks ago in the middle of a Triple H vs. Randy Orton WWE Title Match, and last week, he turned the lights out as Orton battled CM Punk in Toronto.

Regal has shown that he has no qualms about taking RAW off the air if he is disrespected, and WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon had voiced his endorsement of Regal and his actions. Will our fans in Detroit make it through the full two hours uninterrupted? If they don’t, will those in attendance at “The Joe” shower Regal with the signature squid usually reserved for celebrating a Red Wings hat trick?

Orton and Regal’s number one enemies, WWE Champion Triple H and Mr. Kennedy respectively, did make it through their match last week. Unfortunately, they lost, as Kennedy & "The Game" had to do battle against the entire ECW roster. To make matters worse for Triple H, he survived a wild post-match melee only to be flattened by an RKO from his Judgment Day opponent. On the way to their Steel Cage showdown, who will get the last laugh? And will Regal throw anything more at Kennedy in response to his besmirching several weeks ago?

Also last week, two new matches were made for Judgment Day: JBL vs. John Cena and Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels, which was announced in a WWE Mobile on AT&T exclusive video. The battle between Y2J and HBK has been heating up ever since Michaels’ win over Batista at Backlash. Jericho has accused the Showstopper of faking an injury to win that match; whether he is or he isn’t, HBK’s injury didn’t stop him from teaming with Y2J to defeat WWE Tag Team Champions The Miz & John Morrison last Monday night. With less than a week left before their pay-per-view battle, how will Jericho and Michaels finish their preparations?

As for Cena and JBL, they have taken different roads since Backlash – where the media maven says “The Champ” humiliated him during the Fatal Four Way Match. While Cena has kept a low profile, JBL has taken out his aggression on the likes of Highlander Robbie and DH Smith. Will the Chain Gang Soldier make it back to RAW to rebut JBL’s words and actions, or will the Longhorn Loudmouth have to find another unsuspecting victim?

Find out all this in more as the final RAW before Judgment Day comes to you live from Detroit, Monday at 9/8 CT on the USA Network and on Tuesday at 2AM on Sky Sports 3 (with a replay on Thursday at 9:30PM).
Venue: Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, MI

Confirmed Matches/Events

John Cena To Appear

Holy jumpin JEFF HARDY is back. His music started and the roof almost blew off the place. As he was apologizing for what he called a mistake Regal cut his mic and made him fight Youmanga.

Winner Jeff Hardy.

Decent Raw this week.

I like the little feud Santino has going with Piper, even if Piper looks like he is 60, god chemo ages a person. I loved the opening segment and was glad that the lights did not go out this week. Jeff beating Umaga was unexpected as was Orton beating HHH down so badly but that menas hes lost at judgement day. Liked the Cena JBL bit livend up the feud and the HBK, Y2J seg was mint. NOt a bad RAW but nothing to write home about.

Decent Raw to watch.

I liked the bit between Piper and Santino too, hopefully see a match in the near future or possibly more promos and stuff.

The main event was ok, always going to have something happen in it with regards to JBL. The Orton interview beforehand was also good.

Return of Jeff Hardy was good, seemingly wanting to go after the IC Title, a feud with Jericho would be good i think because they had an excellent match prior to Jeff's suspension.

Shock Horror. Michaels isnt (and never was) injured! Honestly though it was another awesome promo with him and Jericho, and im looking forward to the match on Sunday.

Cade and Murdoch perhaps splitting up? Seems so with the atack by Lance. I would like to see them have a fight actually, make it no DQ, just let them go at it.

Melina also learnt a valuable lesson to not mess with Beth Phoenix, that was vicious.

Haven't seen Raw yet but it sounds like an alright show.

I'm utterly confused by the HBK/Jericho thing. So Jericho acts like a heel and says HBK is faking it, they have a tag match they win, then this week Jericho acts face again and says sorry you clearly are hurt, but HBK says no I was faking it and superkicks him? So he's a heel? Except he's cheered so he's not? I don't get it...

Rest of the show sounds alright, I think we should have a minute's silence for the break up of Cade and Murdoch. To be fair they were going nowhere fast so hopefully singles pushes may occur and they may at least do something.

Nice to see Jeff Hardy back. His promo sounds a tad confusing. Yes we all know he got busted for drugs but do all of the audience?

And most of all thank god for no lights turning out! I still wish Regal would be wrestling though at the moment he's the same, and doing the same as every other boring, stale GM. Yet Regal's a very talented wrestler, so why can't he just benefit himself in matches?

But yeah I'll watch it later, certainly sounds alright.
