FCP looks like a lot of fun but it's so niche. They don't advertise at all, so everything is word of mouth, and the shows work so well at the current venue that it would be really difficult to replicate it.

I checked out a Rev Pro DVD which seemed well produced to a degree, but it was a tiny bit boring.

The Dragon Gate shows are very good, but the crowd suffered the usual problems. Very well produced, though. Very Japanese feel to it.

I will say this - people say that British wrestling needs TV. I disagree. Some of these promotions could have TV but the production looks the pits, so it would knock British wrestling even further back. It definitely needs money, but it needs emphasis placed on production and on professionalism. The talent is there, and an audience is clearly there. It just needs to look worth watching.

This. A million times this. As much as I want a TV channel to take on wrestling again, it would only work if it was well produced. Otherwise you just open yourself up to the whole "it's like American wrestling but cr*p" problem. Like Draven said, you can have the best talent ever, but if the production is the pits then people won't give it the time of day.

Case in point - a DVD I'm watching now, of a recent show by a promotion who shall remain nameless. The crowd is pretty damn hot, the wrestlers look professional and the graphics are high quality. Therefore, what a shame to see it wasted with audio turned down and drowned by the shouting commentators, a ring that could be better lit through candlelight, and poor packaging that looked like a child scrawled it onto his desk.

I like promoters thinking they are the television character Vince plays. Uncanny carny brilliance.
