    Livorno player Piermario Morosini dies

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet.

He suffered a cardiac arrest and died at the age of 25 yesterday during the Serie B game Pescara-Livorno. All Italian league games were called off.

Got to say after Fabrice Muamba collapsed and the news about Stiliyan Petrov diagnosis of Leukemia, this has been a sad few weeks for football.

    R.I.P, 25 is no age.

Heard it late last night, absolutely heartbreaking, especially hit's you hard when someone is the same age as you.

What is happening to professional footballers recently? Incredibly sad news when you hear about his life story, about how he had to fight through the loss of his parents and the suicide of one sibling and doing everything he could to support and assist in the upbring of his disabled sister.

The most surprising thing about this though is that in Italy they are very strict and thorough in their investigation of players medical well being. They scan and test for heart problems constantly - in fact it was when Kanu signed for Inter from Ajax that they discovered a heart defect that had been their all his life and paid for the operation that no doubt stopped something like this happening to him down the line.

All I can say is that I hope he finds peace and his remaining family get through this. R.I.P.
