No one said anything about Mark Henry being champion in the 80s. He would have been good in the 80s - great even. He'd have been perfect fodder for Hogan, being a big star (which does not require being champion, nor white - Ernie Ladd wasn't a champion but was a huge draw in the WWWF) and probably helping to draw big money and doing well with other guys who were big stars and never champion in that era (Dibiase, Piper, etc). Race wouldn't have changed that.

My apologies for the huge bump, but I find it hard to believe Wade Barrett wont win a world title in pretty short order. It seemed like he was going to win it in 2010 and it just never happened. Plus they put the title on anybody around his level these days.

I also really dont get what people see in Bruiser Brody. But either way, the comparison between them is stupid because they're nothing alike, I guess apart from the fact that they both work as pro wrestlers.

Mark Henry would have bossed sh*t in the 80s.

Brody set the standard for the scruffy, beard-wearing brawler type pro-wrestler, such as Mick Foley and Necro Butcher.

Also, I've read the book "Brody", which is the closest thing to an autobiography on Brody, and it tells you everything. How he influenced hardcore wrestling, and how over he was in his time, and the like.

I may not have lived through the era of Bruiser Brody, but I am a retroactive fan of his.

I'm not saying I dont understand who he was or what his appeal is supposed to be, I mean that I personally dont get what people see in him as a great pro wrestler. Everything I've watched of his has bored the crap out of me, and he was lame as hell, the furthest thing from the intense brawler I expected.

It could well be a generational thing, but I'm just not seeing it.

Henry would have gone down to the legdrop and 12 months later be wrestling midgets.

No offence meant but would a black man be in a headline spot in 1980's in America?

Believe me it shocked the hell out of me. After everything I'd heard I expected exactly what you said, and in reality it was a total "What, thats it?" thing. I feel like I must be missing something obvious because my impression was so off.
