DDP Retires

Page Falkenberg - aka Diamond Dallas Page is retiring from professional wrestling because of his neck injury.

The decision came after DDP met with several doctors, where the majority told him he cannot wrestle anymore without serious risk of permanent injury. The one's who didn't say that, didn't exactly have good news for him as they all told him he could wrestle - if he is willing to deal with chronic pain.

DDP met with Vince McMahon in Greensville, South Carolina today and came to the conclusion that he will no longer wrestle. He felt that he was too old as it is (46) and the neck injury finished off his career.

DDP hopes to continue working in WWE in another role other than wrestling, although those discussions have not yet been made.

It's a shame. DDP never set the world alight in the WWF but he was a more than capable performer in WCW. The last high-profile match I remember him having was a win against Christian at Wrestlemania so at least he went out on something of a high.

Hopefully he will stay involved in WWE in some capacity, maybe as a colour commentator. I wish him all the best, whatever he chooses to do.

Its a shame that the news of DDP's retirement is over shaddowed by Austin walking out again.
I just hope that Vince knows that he has a very valuable player on his books in DDP and he does not let him go while keeping guys like Rico in his employment.

[Spoiler's edited out][Then put back in]

DDP has little choice but to retire Syxx, one more bad bump or wrong move could leave him in a wheel chair. From what the doctor's say. :(

Word from above is that Austin walking out is not a spolier anymore. Sorry Syxx. :xyx

It's a pity that DDP has had to retire. He certainly was a hell of a worker when he had to be. I'll always remember his battles with Raven & Benoit circa '98 - some classic battles. Here's hoping DDP sticks around in some capacity.
