Talk Wrestling Online Newsletter - Issue 11 - May 11th 2003
================================================

Hey All,

Well, fresh off a week of writing songs and making sites and graphics for myself and a friend on a site called http://www.cybercelebrity.tk (Almost a music e-fed), here comes the TWO Newsletter, for all your wrestling news needs.

This month, I've added a few advertisements too. If anyone wants a plug, e-mail with a link and I will do, provided I like the site and maybe you can link to TWO on your site. One good turn, remember, lol. But the spots would be limited each week. this isn't the Internet Yellow Pages.

But nonetheless, on with the show. Enjoy.

*WWE*

Details emerged this week about possible heat developing between Jim Ross and Vince McMahon. The Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter reported that there was an incident at the March 18 Smackdown tapings, Jim Ross was producing the commentary of Michael Cole and Tazz from the gorilla position. After the first match, Vince McMahon came over to Ross and said that he would be doing the producing for the rest of the event. Ross apparently felt Vince did this to show him up, and if he didn’t want Ross producing the announcers, he could have told him before the tapings instead of in front of everyone after the first match. Ross had been attending all Smackdown tapings, but hasn’t been doing so since the incident.

Due to the increasing amount of injuries, the WWE is working on "slowing down" their in-ring style to help cut them down. Agents have been working closely with talent on changing their styles to a slower one. Vince McMahon even spoke to much of the roster at Backlash regarding the changes in style. WWE is hoping to deliver a style that isn't as risky and dependent on big bumps and "spots." Instead, they want to carefully book the matches to tell a story.

Kurt Angle made a pitch to WWE management to let him return to in-ring action before he was technically cleared by his doctors, since he feels so much better. WWE refused to do so.

Some friends of Rob Van Dam are surprised that RVD is able to work his high impact style in the WWE schedule, because his knees are so shot.

It has been reported that WWE officials are very disappointed with the fans lacklustre reaction to Sean O’Haire. They feel that the reason for the O’Haire and Piper not getting over is down solely to the fans negative reaction to O’Haire. There is no word so far as to how this will affect Sean’s push.

It appears as if Tough Enough is not going to come back for a fourth season on MTV. Although the show did good ratings for MTV, including a huge rating for the finale, the network is apparently not interested in showing wrestling programming anymore. WWE has taken down the website for the show and taken down the show from its TV listings. No word on whether TNN would like to pick up the show.

In related news Al Snow recently signed a new contract with WWE, so even though Tough Enough might not be coming back, Snow’s job is secure in WWE. It is said that he got a lower downside than before, but that is expected to be the norm for anyone signing a new contract, because business is down. Snow has talked about opening a wrestling school in Ohio as well.

The Road Warriors, Hawk and Animal, will be working dark matches for WWE next week. The former WWE Tag Team Champions will be wrestling at the RAW taping in Philadelphia on Monday, and the Smackdown taping in Baltimore on Tuesday. WWE has been planning for around a month now to give the Road Warriors a few dark matches. The company wants to evaluate them in the ring before offering them a full time contract.

The Wrestlemania match between the teams of The Undertaker and Nathan Jones and The Big Show and Albert was changed to a pseudo-handicap match right before the PPV. Apparently all four men had gone to the Undertaker’s ranch to practice the match, but even with the practice, Jones couldn’t get it right. There is talk of sending Jones to OVW for a while. Jim Ross has gotten some heat for the signing, because he was one of the only officials to really push for WWE to sign Jones.

Billy Gunn will apparently be returning to the Smackdown brand. He should return in a few weeks. Some speculation has arisen recently that Gunn would return on RAW and be part of the Intercontinental Title Battle Royal at Judgment Day.

*NWA: TNA*

NWA: TNA is attempting to find out what the status of Jeff Hardy’s contract was with WWE. They have not been able to find out if he has a no-compete clause or not that would prevent him from working for TNA for several months. TNA is relying on Ron Killings, who was friends with Jeff in their WWE days, to act as a liaison between TNA and Jeff.

Raven is still without a contract as of today with TNA. Both parties agreed on a one-night deal that was reached prior to this weeks show.

D-Lo Brown has opened his new website at www.d-lobrown.com <http://www.d-lobrown.com>

Indy 101 - By Trinity
--------------------------------------------------------------------

It seems when people look at the WWE’s vast selection of Divas most laugh at the prospect of a wrestling ability. Pretty girls, big plastic breasts, most of their jobs consist of posing in pretty pictures and botching matches. For the women that can wrestle, they’re often pushed down to the bottom, partially because the women that can wrestle tend to be not as attractive as others, plus men don’t care. Divas, valets, women in the wrestling industry are more of a tool, as they exude sexuality; it has to contrast the brutality and masculinity that exudes with the men. For women to share in that masculinity is often repulsive in comparison. But for some reason, women seem to thrive among the Indies. For every Torrie Wilson, Dawn Marie, Stacy Keibler and Terri Runnels, there is an Alexis Laree, Alison Danger, Lucy, Trinity, Simply Luscious and Mickie that blend femininity and masculinity into one.

Its just some things that I noticed in my comparisons between the “big leagues” and the “indies”. Stupid trivial things but they are there, a lot of the better wrestlers are there, than in the WWE. Trinity is one of those that I’m really surprised she hasn’t been signed yet. She’s muscular, brunette, white, and probably is the owner of one of the best moonsaults that I’ve seen in all my years of wrestling. But the untapped talent for a women’s wrestler is there, yet as she travels, and gains a fan base, for ability.

She’s not the only one that could be held in such esteem. Alexis Laree, Alison Danger and Simply Luscious, staples of the ROH fed, blend wrestling and femininity as they develop their abilities, far better than their feminine WWE counterparts save Victoria and Jazz. Even Mickie, the lone female referee in IWA:MS sets a new precedent for women. Willing to bleed regularly, something I doubt most women agree to do, it’s shocking, yet liberating blissfully at the same time. Maybe to me its powerful, but to others it might be shocking. She’s the extreme, but there are some who don’t fall to that extreme. They give off the power and something that the WWE women seem to not have.
