Bobby "The Brain" Heenan has encompassed every phase of the wrestling business during his 38 year career and is still recognized as the only major player from the 60’s. His capabilities have yet to be surpassed as manager of some of the most influential and famous wrestlers of the century.
From Publishers Weekly:
Following in the footsteps of the likes of Mick "Mankind" Foley, The Rock and Kurt Angle, Bobby "The Brain" Heenan has become the latest professional wrestler to set his life on the mat to the page. While the book certainly won't challenge for any literary prizes, Heenan-a funny, cocky guy with an intelligence that goes well beyond his 8th grade education-is surprisingly charming. A pro wrestler since the 1960s, Heenan recounts the early days spent wrestling bears in Canada, getting cheated by promoters and bleeding in smoky gyms and halls across the northeast, all for as little as $10 a night. A devoted family man, Heenan finally made a comfortable living off the sport he loves in the 1980s and 1990s and has spent a lifetime reveling in the attention (and venom) his supporters and detractors have thrown his way. 22 pages of b&w photos.

Anybody got this one yet? I'm thinking of ordering a new book off Amazon cause Waterstones don't seem to be getting new wrestling books in anymore.

Well, it only took them 6 months, but Waterstones got it in! It was the US edition with a UK price sticker on it, which seemed odd.

As for the book, it was very good, just too short. Also, a little proof reading wouldn't have gone amiss with a gag or two being repeated and some very strange sentence/paragraph structures going on.

The main bugbear is that it's just too short. I've lent it to a friend now but I think it's only about 160 pages long with fairly well spaced lines so it's a bit disappointing. When you consider the length of Heenan's career it's difficult to think that there was a lack of material.

Anyways, overall I really enjoyed what turned out to be more of a long-form magazine article, just a couple of minus points to consider before you purchase.
