_____Draven's crypt_____________________________________________
I have interviewed Iceman, Rob McKay, The Dominator and Drew McDonald. I have been granted interviews with Steve Corino and Low-ki. I am even close to securing an interview with Midajah O’Hearn. But none of these interviews mean as much to me as this one does. Never has so much preparation, perfection and ass-kissing gone into an interview. Today folks, for the benefit of all you TWO Newsletter subscribers, I bring you a world exclusive interview with…Talk Wrestling Online Owner: KAM!!!
Q: Kam, it has been 2 years to this day that you created the worldwide wrestling community known as TWO. To begin with, where did the idea of owning your own website come from? And where did the name “Talk Wrestling Online” come from?
A: Well I wanted to make a website to give me something to do over the summer holidays. I’m a huge fan of wrestling (well WCW and WWF at the time), so I thought it would be a good idea to make a wrestling website. I didn’t want to have one with loads of news and info, as I knew it would be too difficult to run on my own and there were enough of those types of websites. I thought it would be good to have a site just for wrestling fans to hang out. My initial idea was to have the chatrooms as the main part of the website, and have games (like quizzes) and forums as additions. There were a few other wrestling chatrooms out there, but they were not exactly the best place to chat, as they were basically a free for all (swearing, no mods, flooding etc), which a lot of people hated. That’s why TWO is so strict with the rules, I don’t want the chatrooms (or forums) to end up like those.
I wanted to have TalkWrestling.com as the domain, but it was taken at the time, so I decided on TalkWrestlingOnline.co.uk/.com instead.
Q: Did you think it would become as big as it is at the moment?
A: Not at all! I always expected it to be a small hobby, and I didn’t really think it would last that long. But once I started, I put loads of effort in, and starting make friends through the site, like HBK and KJ. It was fun meeting all these wrestling fans, and we used to talk nearly everyday in the chatrooms, which allowed us to get to know each other better.
People ended up wanting more sections, so basically as the site grew, more sections were added. (A BIG thanks to everyone that’s helped at TWO from the start!)
I’m also really glad, as when looking through the memories thread in the Feedback Forum, a lot of people described TWO as a family, which sounds really corny, but I think its great!
Q: Now you have become sort of friends, yet also rivals, with another website, known as SmashWrestling.com. What is your personal opinion of the site and do you think it is as good or better than your beloved TWO?
A: SmashWrestling.com is like TWO’s big brother :) (A BIG bully!) I emailed Groov asking him to link to the chatooms, he didn’t reply! Then he came into the rooms one day, liked what he saw and linked! Basically from that day we’ve been friends.
Smash was amazing, it was without a doubt one of the best wrestling websites that I’ve ever seen (easily the best from the UK). But as they grew, the hosting costs increased which affected them quite a bit. Then they had all those problems with their host, but they’re finally back to form. I’m expecting big things in the future from Smash…with TWO hanging on the coattails :D
*Groov moves the gun away from Kam’s head.
Q: Over two years, it’s obvious that you have had a lot of memories concerning the site, seeing its growth from the start. What are your favourite memories of TWO?
A: Theres loads! I remember sitting in the chatrooms on the first day the site opened – it was around 9pm and it was the first ever PPV Chat (KOTR 2000). I was so worried, as I thought no one would turn up, but thankfully a few posters from the UK Fan Forum did turn up (That’s where I plugged it!), and I thought it went down ok.
Running the weekly quizzes were hard too, as I had to do that all manually, and it did get a little difficult when you had around 30-50 entries every week. But they were a lot of fun too, with lots of rivalries. (Special mentions to Linus “The Human Wrestling Enclopedia” who was the only person to win it twice, and KJ who was the last ever winner).
Setting up the FWL was great too – thanks to KJ and TVV (Verby) who came up with the idea for it.
The Wedding on August 19th was obviously a great high!
I thought the memories thread in the Feedback Forum was great too, theres just so many!
Q: We have looked at the good parts of TWO, but we must now cross over to a dark side of your life: The marriage to Chyna (That’s the Chatroom Chyna, not the WWF Chyna!). Obviously, it was built up as the marriage of the summer, but it all ended in heartbreak. What were your thoughts and emotions as you fell in love, got married and split up as she went with Groovico, the owner of Smash Wrestling?
A: What can I say, the wedding overshadowed SummerSlam 2001 at TWO! The chatrooms were all white, Russ was the Minister, and there were around 30 people viewing the vows! Chyna used to be in the chatrooms more than anyone (even me!), she was the chatroom queen.
I remember Chyna back then, all pure and innocent….until she met Groov. Well once she met him, things went down hill, and she was never the same.
Q: Do you hold any hard feelings against Groov?
A: What do you think?
Q: Moving on, one of the great features of TWO is the chat room, where many of the TWO-ites get together to talk about anything and everything. In your opinion, who were/are your favourite and least favourite members of the chat room?
A: OOOOH I couldn’t name names now! Each person adds something to the chatroom, whether its intelligence, humour or crap :)
But I have to credit the mods, they get a lot of flak for enforcing the rules, they’ve got a difficult job, and they do a brilliant job.
Q: How much did Groovico bribe you to allow Smash use of your chat room?
A: Bribe me? ME? He couldn’t bribe me! I let Smash link to the chatrooms out of the kindness of my great big heart.
Q: Out of curiosity, if Groovico lost interest in Smash, lost all his money or was “accidentally” killed and you were given the reigns of Smash Wrestling, what would you do with the site?
A: I would turn it into a Hardys and Lita fansite. Purple, pink and black colour scheme, and I’ll let Tony moderate the forums :D
Q: Now lets play a little Word Association:
Tony: Monkeys
Groovico: Wifestealer
Chyna: Princess
MWNN: A1 Fan
Jess: weird little boy
Russ: Small
QM: Hard Worker
TWO: Three
SmashWrestling: .com? :)
Bret Hart: Legend / Icon / Great
God: Divine
Kam: Me
DraVen: Kiss Ass
Q: What can we expect from TWO in the future?
A: I’ve got loads of plans, which I hope to implement in the next few months, but above all I want it to remain the great community it is.
Q: Finally, I thought I’d end with a question that has been asked more than any other question in TWO history (besides “Are you sure Russ’s hair is real?”) and that’s this: Kam, Can I be a mod?
A: Your fired! (Maybe Colib can do a better job).
To finish off I just want to thank everyone that’s helped out TWO, whether it be by submitting work, moderators or just those people that have been apart of the community – Thanks!!!!
_____If Simon met… _________________________________________________
Hey there, Simon here again, and this time round I’m going to do things a little differently, with a nice interview. So here’s a nice little change, the interview “if Simon met HHH”.
Of course, I didn’t really meet him, or interview him. Or even attempt to do such things. The following is merely how the interview would have gone...enjoy.
Simon: Welcome Hunter, thanks for coming.
HHH: No problem, its nice to be doing something for TWO, I’ve heard a lot about the site.
Simon: Right...ok...anyway, HHH....5 time WWF champion...does it get any better for you?
HHH: Actually you’re forgetting to mention that I won the IC belt a few times, along with the Euro title and a few others. Not to mention King of the Ring. But I don’t think I’m finished yet.
Simon: Forgive me, well you are no doubt aiming to do more, shown by the fact that you went through 8 months of rehab to come back and win the Rumble...what else is there left to do?
HHH: Well I know the fans all wanted to see me return and hold the WWF title for a long time. I’ve heard a lot of people even say that I’m better than I’ve ever been.
Simon: Some people have questioned your “improved physique” though.
HHH: I don’t know what you mean by that...
Simon: I mean as in some people have suggested that you might have taken certain pills...
HHH: I don’t understand.
Simon: Well...err...Some people have suggested that you might have taken steroids, and that its the reason for your “great physique”.
HHH: Why do you keep using air-quotes when you say that?
Simon: No reason.....Some say you take pills before matches and thats why you always carry a bottle of water to ringside.
HHH: No, I simply take water because my mouth gets dry. I sit in the sun beds for a couple of hours before every show you see
Simon: Did you or did you not take steroids?
HHH: I don’t encourage steroid taking, It’s not something I would promote to someone else.
Simon: For God’s sake, answer the question.
HHH: Ok, well I have not taken steroids to improve my performance.
Simon: Nobody said anything about taking them to improve your performance....
HHH: Drop the subject please.
Simon: So you aren’t answering the question?
HHH: I’ll tell you what. Go win the WWF title 5 times and come back and I’ll answer your question.
Simon: Hmm..touche. A lot of people have criticised Stephanie’s role(s) in the WWF recently...such as her on screen performances...what do you say to that?
HHH: I thought we were talking about me. One thing I will say is that Steph is really talented in getting heat and that she’s a great writer.
Simon: Even though you somehow got booked into a last minute job to Hogan at Backlash?
HHH: That was different, I was doing the right thing for the business.
Simon: So you had no problems with losing to Hogan?
HHH: Jeez have you actually planned these questions or is this spontaneous?
Simon: A bit of both actually, sorry it’s just the questions I thought the fans wanted answered....so Hogan?
HHH: What about him. He’s a great icon for the business so I dont see what was wrong with giving him the title.
Simon: Was Hogan jobbing to you at a later date part of the deal?
HHH: There was no “deal”. Hogan just did what was best for the business, by putting over the selling point of the WWF at the moment.
Simon: So you consider yourself the selling point of the WWF at the moment?
HHH: Lets face it, bar my injury, I have been for the last couple of years.
Simon: ......Some also say that you rarely lose cleanly these days. Why is it the case?
HHH: I’ve paid my dues.
Simon: Is there anyone who’s career you’d say you’d helped?
HHH: I like to think I’m helping put guys like D-Von Dudley and Test over, I’ve put both of them over recently. So I’m still paying my dues even now.
Simon: You jobbed to them in what sense?
HHH: They both have wins over me.
Simon: I’m simply questioning how clean these wins were....at least 2 people interfered in both “jobs”, and you were pushed as being injured both times...
HHH: It was the way the writers wanted it....
Simon: Is it always the case that when you job to someone they have to job to you cleanly at a later date?
HHH: Its always mutual agreement.
Simon: Ok...to finish things...In true wrestling interview style I’m going to say some names, and I’d like you to give a short comment on each.
HHH: Ok.
Simon: First one, Vince McMahon
HHH: God.
Simon: Hulk Hogan
HHH: Icon, knows whats right for the business.
Simon: Jeff Hardy
HHH: Who?
Simon: You know, the washed up kid with funny hair...
HHH: Oh...yeh the guys backstage wanted to push him....I managed to convince them otherwise.
Simon: Thank God for backstage politics eh.
HHH: I don’t get it...
Simon: Ok....anyway, next, Chyna
HHH: Totally egotistical. Thinks she’s some sort of legend or something.
Simon: You and her were always quite similar werent you..?
HHH: Yeh, I know, she has the same physique as me. Heh.
Simon: Ho ho ho indeed. Rob Van Dam?
HHH: Over-rated. Sloppy, Wrestles stiff...bad worker.....
Simon: Moving on....Chris Jericho
HHH: Talented, even though we did need to use Steph at Wrestlemania to get him over properly.
Simon: Er...yes...finally, Edge
HHH: Great IC division wrestler.
Simon: I thought he'd risen above the IC division these days?
HHH: Really? (mutters to himself something like "need to sort that out.")
Simon: Well, thanks for that Hunter, one last final question, the Bret Hart screw-job....were you part of it?
HHH: The claim that theres a link between my push and being part of the screw job kind of pisses me off. It’s total BS and I was always great friends with Bret...I can prove it, we are still great friends....
Simon: But he called you a “punk” and totally slated you on his column.
HHH: Hah. Man he's such a joker. Good old Bret......
Simon: What goes around comes around eh Hunter.
HHH: Thanks for having me, been a pleasure.
*HHH stands up and walks out the room, carrying a bottle of what looks like pills.*
