View Full Version : Keane Sent Home
Roy Keane is believed to have been sent home from the World Cup following his criticism of the Republic of Ireland's preparations.
The Republic and Manchester United skipper pulled out of the squad on Tuesday only to have a change of heart.
However, Irish squad officials have today called a press conference.
Earlier today Keane announced his retirement from international football after the World Cup - then launched a blistering attack on the Republic's preparations for the finals.
I can't see Ireland getting past the group stages now. No matter what the "En-ger-lund" press say, Keane is more important to Ireland than Beckham is to England.
Then he should learn to shut his gob then

Why should he shut his gob if the Irish FA can't do things properly...The Irish FA are one of the biggest jokes in World football, at least the Scotland squad are in Scotland at some point when International matches are on.
New Irish caps get picked, come off of the plane and say "Oh, so this is what Dublin looks like...erm, what does Guiness taste like?"
The Irish football league should just disband as no home base Irish footballer is EVER going to play for them.
Anyways, back onto Roy Keane...his comments about the Man Utd fans were spot on, he will have idiots starting with him and why shouldn't he be upset at the supposed lack of training conditions.

Unlike the Northern Ireland squad, we have one home based player. :) but thats more down to the fact that the Northern Irish league is semi-professional, don't know if the Republics is the same.
It is a huge blow for the Rep of Ireland and they can't replace Keane with Healy since the squad deadline has passed so if Matt Holland gets injuried there in trouble. I heard some of the things Keane had problems with where that the Iish players flew in coach, they got no security at both airports and there was no showers at the training facility.
But Ireland are having a great time when you hear about Cameroon, they left 6 days late after the whole squad got into a serious argument over pay now they are currently stuck in Thailand after the plane was forced to land due to bad weather.

I think Mick McCarthy has made a huge mistake. Roy Keane is one of the best midfielders in the world, and is hugely influential. If Keano has flown home, the Irish squad might as well get on the next plane out of Japan.
Saying that, Keane can't be allowed to get away with what he wants, but I don't blame him for having a go at McCarthy, I can't stand him!

I think fair play to McCarthy. Keane is an egotistical git. He needs to learn to shut his mouth. Keane is a fantastic player, one of the best in the world but McCarthy must not allow himself to be undermined by one of his players. Once that happens then you have lost control.
Also Tsu, if you were serious about the point, thats a kind of invalid point on disbanding the Irish football league.
Its true that none of the people playing in that league will ever play for Ireland while they are in that league but an awful lot of players, including Keane himself, started their careers there. They used that league as a stepping stone to get to where they are today.

i totally agree with everything you said there. the stupid bastard deserves it, if he thinks he can get away with throwing a strop so close to the World Cup and going off on one in front of the manager he should expect it. i totally agree with Mick Mccarthy and i now have even more respect for him. i have never thought Keane was that good anyway, sure he is the ebst player they have but i think Matt holland can do the job well.

Ah, but there is a "Me" :)
Keano was wrong to have thrown a wobbler at McCarthy like he did but what the Irish squad seems to have had to put up with for a team preparing for a World Cup does seem a bit of a joke.

keane was calling mccarthy an english b*stard, english w*nker and other such stuff, conveniently forgetting half the irish squad is english and their only link is 'My grandad once knew an irishman' and the fact the only reason he is successful is *** he plays for (guess what) an ENGLISH CLUB! talk about biting the hand that fed you. Oh and the News of The World are publishing a scandal thingy showing who he had an affair with. Bwahahahahaha!
The News of the World can print all they like about Keano but he probably won't give a toss. Controversy has followed him wherever he goes, even though he brings it on himself, he just gets on with playing football very well.
