[edit]No! I have the answer! It's because you are viewing in Linear mode (oldest first). Go to User CP and pick Edit Options, change your Thread Display Mode to Hybrid and you'll see what I see! :xyx

I use Linear Newest first, just means a bit of scrolling but when it comes to the multi page threads = less clicks

Hybrid is cool because of the little preview window up the top, in an epic thread you can very quickly and easily check back a bit - like if you're trying to find a particular post, and can also easily see replies to your posts. Works for someone like me who's not actually online all the time and has to blaze through threads quickly to see what I missed.
