I did this poll on the Smash forums, so i'll do it here too. Who do you think is the best british wrestler (or for the benefit of Jack "ram his opinions down our throat" Halewood, Sports-Entertainer) at the moment (excluding William Regal.) in this country?

"Alex Shane (Kam told me to add him)" - You make that sound like a bad thing.

It's not like he's any good, is it? The best is Doug, despite his faults in selling and build.

What about people like the Middleman, Andy 'Pigman' Hogg, Assassin (IWF), and Renegade (IWF as well).

But out of that list, I'd say Doug Williams.

Thats what "Other" is there for :)

Britain has more than just Hammerlock, FWA and TWA, as well as guy's who aren't affiliated with any UK fed. So why are they the only ones mentioned? And with any poll like this, most people will go for the names they see and recognise, rather than use other.

Yeah Draven why? :)

Yeah Draven, Why.........oh, I'm Draven. :D

Jesus Christ, maybe it's because i've never seen IWF. Maybe it's because quite a lot of people may be new to the scene and are only familiar with guys like Steele, Williams and Shane.

I added the "OTHER" section for a reason. So please stop moaning and use it.

Done and Done (man, I'm putting the forum mods to shame here!!!)

I smell gimmick infringement, Draven. Sort out your polls before you steal from me! :)

Anyhoo, from what I've seen (ie- Revival and several shows of UWA on L!ve TV), Doug Williams has been the most impressive. And if there was a similar poll for Most Annoying British Wrestler, Alex Shane would win by a landslide.

I'd have to say that for me the most complete wrestlers in this country that I've seen are Doug Williams and Gary Steele. Steele's had some great matches against Shinya Hashimoto which I loved. And I think Williams as an all round package is one of the few guys in this country who could get a contract in the States

I'd say, though, Jayden that it was Gary Steele being carried which made his matches with Hashimoto decent. I mean, other work I've seen of Steele (against OGAWA, who was carrying the match, YES NAOYA OGAWA HAD TO DO THE CARRYING!!!!!) and also his Zero-One work, has been far worse.

I don't neccessarily disagree with that at all, but I still think that he had better matches with Hashimoto than anyone other than Williams could have from the UK.

I'm not saying I think he's great, just the best of a bad bunch from what I've seen.

Williams the best, Steele 2nd in my opinion

I may have to see more than Johnny Moss, his match at the NWA 53rd was poor but he was in there with TANK so, well, er... you get the picture.

you haven't got anyone listed who needs to be reminded that spandex is a privlidge not a right.

And that is a very good thing. Fat sweaty people in spandex just isn't right in so many many ways.

As a fat wrestler who wears spandex i am insulted by what you have written, would you prefer that us larger lads wear just shorts?

People in houses with big glass windows should not throw insults!:xyx

Williams by a mile, apart from him, fleisch and maybe storm, the rest are miles behind, but some have a lot of potential though

Can someone tell me what's so good about Jody Fleisch? I set out a compain for video footage where he actually built to spots and made them meaningful. You know what? THERE IS NONE. He exposes the business EVERY SINGLE TIME he wrestles because he makes the SAT look as 'realistic' as Maeda and Takada. Storm may even be worse...

Now this may make everyone hate me, but i am prepared to take the risk.

What's so bad about Alex Shane?

I've seen him live. His promos are quite good, funny and he pulls of moves that only cruisers can do, he isn't afraid to put his body on the line, unfortunately shown by his recent injury and for some reason he has become the british wrestler to hate. i bet half of you have only seen him at Revival where i must admit he was average at best and have made the assumption from other people's opinions. hell if you made assumptions from other people's opinions then a few of us might be Halewoodites (god forbid). He isn't THAT bad you know.

I've seen about five or six Alex Shane matches and in every one he's awfully contrived and has horrible execution. He's also as predictable as they come...

What about Robbie Dynamite?

And of course myself and Mikey Whiplash!!!!!!!
