Sports entertainment it ain't.
Misawa and Kawada suck, The Undertaker is the greatest wrestler of all time.
Jayden
03-03-2004, 03:38 PM
Yeah, that's just nasty. Kawada would last about 5 minutes in the WWE before they all started whingeing that they didn't want to wrestle him because he's too stiff.
I have to agree with Russ though, you can't look past the Undertaker when you're talking about the true greats though as opposed to these Japanese jabronies ;)

That Kobashi one is just so bad
That third one looks rough man, moves go wrong all the time, but its not that often they look that bad. The top video though looks kind of mild compared to the other two. Obviously going over like that has got to hurt, but no-where near as much as the other two surely?
Evil Gringo

The third vid is an actual move that Kawada does... Its called the Ganso Bomb! And believe it or not Muto kicked out!
The Tiger of the ramp from the 2003 GHC title match beween Misawa and Kobashi is brutal... both men took a hell of a landing...
As for the first one? Well its part selling from Kawada and part brutality from Misawa....

Its an actual move? i thought it was a piledriver gone wrong, shows how much i watch this doesnt it? Even so, it did look dangerous. As for Misawa and Kobashi, thats a bad fall to have going backwards, and as you said it looked like they had one hell of a landing! Well at least they get paid for it i guess!

AJ managing to lift Samoa Joe for the Styles Clash and the win at the end and a great match between Mike Quakenbrush and Nate Webb...
Seriously the channel runs my short TV time.

I've seen a clip in a tape store... looked horrid.. Think, Canadian Powerbomb postion (like over the shoulder) then driven at a sick angle, hard and fast, into a head spike.
Kanemaru needed a stretcher!
The Gentleman
30-11-2004, 12:08 AM
Damn, that sounds awesome. I heard it described as a Last Ride but then he just drove them down so they landed right on their neck! Either way, it sounds SICK!
Long live Kobashi and the unprotected head bump!
Mr Dragon
30-11-2004, 08:41 AM
I think Mariko Yoshida's Air Raid Crush is my new favourite move. Vertical suplex to tombstone piledriver. Really sick.
Evil Gringo
30-11-2004, 09:20 AM
So a Steiner Screwdriver but without the sitout?
Ouch!
Mr Dragon
30-11-2004, 10:07 AM
Yeah, goes to the tombstone kneeling position with opponent facing forward rather than a sitout. Possibly gives more protection, except when they slide off her knees onto their heads. Heh heh heh.
The Gentleman
30-11-2004, 10:23 AM
For me, its still gotta be the vertabreaker for sick head bump! Or from ROH, the Maximo Explosion, Cut-Throat Driver or Super Dragon's Psycho Driver's (number 1 or 2)
Mr Dragon
30-11-2004, 11:18 AM
Vertabreaker ? The Kudo Driver you mean. Respect the ladies, Megumi Kudo of FMW came up with that one.
I saw a reverse Fire Thunder Driver in a Jd' match one time, might have been Sumie Sasaki who did it. Basically a Northern Lights Suplex that stops half-way over so the opponent's stomach is on your shoulder and their head down your back, the opposite way to a Fire Thunder Driver. Sit it out. Same effect as the Fire Thunder Driver except the person doing it can't spot the landing.
The Gentleman

That is the Maximo Explosion my good man as used by the SAT and the Amazing Red in ROH and All Japan i believe on their stint their!
The Cut-Throat driver is a Regal Cutter setup, but then you hoist them into an Argentinian Backbreaker and fall like a DVD (so it is a wrapped neck-breaker Burning Hammer)
But the Psycho Drivers are definately my favourites. The pumphandle piledriver and the Burning Hammer Piledriver. Both really nasty headbumps!
Evil Gringo
30-11-2004, 04:03 PM
The simple half nelson suplex and dragon suplex look nasty enough, espically in the release version, deadly as hell!
Was just wondered if anyone has invented this move... Cross armed electric chair lift, like a Manami Toyota Ocean Cyclone but instead of dropping into a suplex you sit out and flip them into a sitout cross armed tombstone...
Me and Maxx where discussing it last night...
Mr Dragon
30-11-2004, 04:35 PM
Hmm... sounds close to Manami Toyota's Ocean Cyclone Bomb. It's more of a powerbomb from that position than a Tombstone piledriver though.
That's the great thing with Japanese wrestling, you think up all these cool moves that no one could possibly do and then you see it as a throw away transition in a match a few months later.
As far as suplexes go I'm partial to The Bloody's top rope Dragon suplex and Mima Shimoda's Death Lake Driver, a top rope Tiger suplex.
The Gentleman

The closest thing i have ever seen is "The Rubicks Cube" done by Danny Daniels in IWA Mid South and ROH.
He hoists his opponent onto his shoulders in an electric chair, but then he reaches upwards and clasps his hands round the back of his opponents head. From here he sits out, but while he does this, he pulls his opponent down and forward, so they land in front of him on their head and neck, kind of tucked up in front of him.
It is an awesome move, and seeing Chris Hero do it (who is a legit 6' 4" minimum) was horrific.
Evil Gringo
30-11-2004, 08:30 PM
Ah so its pretty much a new move?
Well well.... Tommy, met the new Innovator of violence!
The Gentleman
30-11-2004, 09:01 PM
I have to say thinking about it, my favourite high impact move is the "Burning Lariat" which looks like it breaks Kobashi's opponents jaw everytime. Way more horrific than a lot of suplexes.
Mr Dragon
30-11-2004, 09:30 PM
I'll second that. Sometimes the simplest moves are the best. In the worked world of wrestling it's sometimes forgotten that even a punch can, you know, knock someone out. Big isn't necessarily better.
The Akira Hokuto slap of doom is a horrible move to see. I have a GAEA match where she fights Satomura which makes me just cringe everytime she stiffs her in the face with her palm.
And forget about the Ganso Bomb, who can deny the appeal of Kawada kicking people full in the face ?
The Gentleman
30-11-2004, 09:45 PM
Ahhhh, gotta love slaps! Reminds me of Bas Rutten in NJPW and Lyger's "Palm Strike of Death TM" All the greats have a stiff shot, just think of Misawa's Rolling Elbow aswell!
Evil Gringo
30-11-2004, 10:09 PM
Hell just Misawa's elbows in general... Kobashi and Takayama having broken orbital bones is a testament to that!
On the subject of Lariats, Blue Wolf in NJPW throws an awesome one... looks like it could kill someone! Also a great fan of Kojimas if hit right as well.
And Kawada? Well take a look at this beauties...

As far as the "Rubicks Cube" thing goes, is that the same move that he hit off of the top of a moving van in CZW?
I just Saw Jay Brisco hit the cut-throat driver in a ROH match. I know these examples are not very "international" but hey Im trying!
Yo Gringo you left out "The Burning Windmill!" :D

How can people say CZW is nothing but spot-fests ? ;)
Evil Gringo
01-12-2004, 09:21 AM
Ah yes... the Burning Windwill... A double team combo of the Shock Therapy (Sit Out Cross Armed Electric Chair Tombstone) which is aided in the downward drop by a Springboard Heel Kick by me to the back of the victims head. After I heel kick Maxx drives them down into the Sitout Driver...
And although CZW is a Spot fest at least spot fest can be fun. Like Second City Saints v BJ Whitmer/Dan Maff in ROH Death By Dishonor Part II... Barbed wire, tables, chair filled rings and a TOP ROPE TOMBSTONE THROUGH A TABLE ONTO A RING FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH STEEL CHAIRS!
Unless its a Jeff Hardy (botched)spot fest then it can be quite good.

True, but the mats kinda gave the illusion that he actually went through the entrance ramp. A table would have too much of a WWF HBK/Mick Foley knock off. but i would have prefered to see an Awesome Bomb off the cage, but it's still a sick bumb. Need balls for that one. i got askedfo a password and screen name when i opened the page, and I can't see the gifs.

If you type in wgu2 as the user name and gifs as the password you will be able to see them...
Any other wrestling gif sites you know and any passwords would be lovely...
Also Spiral there isn't a gif I can find of the Diamondhead but there is a short movie available in the moves section of this main site...
The site is www.yucubetoo.com
It usually tells you what password and what usernames to use in the relevant media section... in the matches section it has the Nakamura v Kojima 60 minute draw IWGP title match there to download....

the wgu2 and gifs combination doesn't seem to work, anyone else having this problem?
Evil Gringo

I'd recommend going to the main site and entering it there.
I swear the password is gifs thats gifs with no capitals and no little ' things...
Username is wgu2 without caps lock at all....
It worked for me, I can't see why its not working for you.

Gringo, that is a great link but i have a question. Move 209 on the main website is called "sterness dust alpha" I would call it a wristclutch fishermans ddt/driver/buster.
Am i right or does it have a definitive name? if so what is it? Any help from anyone much appreciated! Cheers

That move is the original and only ever performed once Sterness Dust (hence the alpha) which was devised by Akiyama in the run up to he and Saito facing Honda and Kobashi for the GHC Tag Titles...
In retort Kobashi devised the Diamondhead which again was only used once...
Neither men used the moves in the big match.. Instead I believe Honda submitted Saito with a Olympic Hell O which is a Rolling Shoulder Hold...
It is a Fishermans Wrist Clutch Exploder to Brainbuster....
